I'm Jason T Jackson, one of the scenic painters for Plays in the Park in Edison, NJ. Thank you for visiting this page. In May 2021, I earned a BA in Game Development and thought it would be a fun idea to add an interactive element for our audiences to engage with for our 60th season.
What started as a gag of imitating real-life "Donkey Kong" on account my painter's attire (resembling a likeness to Super Mario) and, for having a bunch of barrels on hand for stage scenery, I put myself to work on putting myself and one of our head carpenters, into a fully interactive Donkey Kong clone. We posed for photos to be inserted as well as took photos of the barrels we had painted.
I then thought it could be even more fun to create a game based on our first show as a new addition to the Plays-in-the-Park experience. I kept the Donkey Kong theme and, since "Something Rotten" main protagonists are brothers, it seemed obvious to title as such. The goal became to create a simple game that reflects the ideas of the show without spoiling too much about the plot.
I'm so excited to share this creation with you and I hope you'll enjoy it. Thank you for supporting Plays in the Park and have a wonderful summer!
